Commercial Lawyer - Newly Qualified (0831)

Our national commercial team is integral to our continuing success.  Representing an impressive range of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 clients, public sector organisations, educational institutions and industry bodies, on high-profile, business-critical projects and regulatory matters, the team plays a vital role in helping clients build growth and success.   The team (one of the largest and most successful of its type) comprises specialists in commercial, technology and data protection law who are located across our network of UK offices and includes nationally recognised leaders in their field.

The team also works alongside our US colleagues on international transactions and projects, and as a Lex Mundi member firm we work with other member firms across the world on international projects for our clients and help their clients when they need assistance in the UK.

We are in growth mode and as such have an opportunity for a newly qualified lawyer to join us, working from our Bristol or Southampton offices.

What does the team do?

We advise on complex and high profile outsourcing transactions, digital transformation projects, international supply contracts, warehousing and logistics contracts, data protection projects and the use of new technologies such as generative AI.  You'll see yourself involved as part of the team in all aspects of transactions and projects including advising on contract strategy, drafting and negotiation, data protection and other regulatory matters and risk management.  We have an enviable client base of household names in a wide variety of sectors including retail, financial institutions, manufacturing, aerospace and defence and the public sector.   Needless to say it's an exciting time to join.  Every day brings something new to learn, explore, and celebrate. You'll be part of a diverse group of professionals who believe in supporting one another while embracing creativity along the way.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll need excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, have a genuine enthusiasm for the practice area and the aspiration to deliver a first class service to our clients. Attention to detail is paramount and you'll also need to work well in a team both internally across other teams within the firm and also as an extension of our clients' internal legal teams.  Given the nature of the work, you will have an interesting and varied workload, comprising of a range of matters so organisation and time management skills will also be critical.  Having built up the necessary expertise across all commercial, tech and data areas over a couple of years, that is then typically the point at which you might expect to specialise further (albeit many of us continue to actively work across the board).

What makes it great to work here?

We continually work hard to create an open culture that sets us apart from other firms. Our culture gives us much more of a human feel, emphasising that we're more than just suits!
