Senior Design Executive (1158)

We're on the lookout for a talented Senior Design Executive to join our Brand & Communications team in Bristol on a fixed-term basis of 12 months. If you have a strong background in graphic design, exceptional creativity, and a keen eye for detail, this role is perfect for you.

What's the team and role about?

The Brand and Communications Team raises the profile of Womble Bond Dickinson and ensures that our positioning is communicated consistently across all internal and external communication channels.

Their responsibilities include overall brand management, PR, and corporate communications, online and digital marketing including website and social media management, and internal communications.

You'll work on internal briefs from across the firm and collaborate with the Marketing and New Business Development teams to develop visual assets that align with our brand identity and business objectives.

This is a hands-on design role where your creativity will shine, but you'll also need strong project management skills to manage production from our suppliers. You'll work with people from around the firm, including lawyers and business services professionals (particularly HR, Recruitment and Learning & Development), managing multiple projects simultaneously. From marketing content and candidate materials to client reports and pitch presentations, you'll ensure our brand is consistently represented. You'll also liaise with design and marketing colleagues from Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, ensuring brand consistency and sharing ideas.

What will you actually be doing?

  • Creating visually appealing graphics: You'll manage the firm's graphic design and creative requirements, producing layouts, designs, animations, illustrations, and videos for digital and offline channels.
  • Ensuring brand consistency: You'll make sure all materials represent the brand accurately across all media.
  • Developing best practices: You'll implement procedures and best practices for the design function.
  • Collaborating with teams: You'll work with marketing and business development teams to understand their design needs and deliver creative solutions.
  • Managing projects: You'll oversee multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications.
  • Working with external agencies: You'll collaborate with our external creative agencies to oversee brand application and manage projects involving their support.
  • Enhancing our online presence: You'll work with our digital team to design and produce new media, ensuring brand consistency across our website, landing pages, HTML emails, photography, social media, and e-commerce.
  • Managing design assets: You'll update and maintain the library of design assets, ensuring it remains accessible and searchable.
  • Influencing brand strategy: You'll implement the WBD brand visual assets and evolve the brand guidelines and visual identity.
  • Mentoring: You'll mentor and support our Digital Executive, developing their design and brand management skills.
  • Building relationships: You'll work with internal and external stakeholders, developing strong relationships to deliver quality outcomes.

Why should you be excited about the role?

Joining Womble Bond Dickinson as a Senior Design Executive means becoming part of a firm recognised for its excellence and innovation in the legal industry. We're known for our friendly, personable, and creative approach, making us a firm that clients trust and respect. With a global reach and strategic alliances, this role offers the chance to contribute to a firm that values creativity, innovation, and collaboration. You'll work on diverse projects, from marketing content and internal communications to high-value bids and pitch presentations.

Who's this role right for?

To be successful in this role you'll need as a minimum;

  • Strong digital and print design skills with a strong portfolio of examples.
  • Proficiency in full Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator are essential).
  • Knowledge of how to plan and design engaging presentations and support our lawyers in developing their skills.
  • Strong creative thinking and ability to generate original ideas.
  • Experience working with asset management systems and templating systems (some experience of Papirfly and/or Foleon would be advantageous but not necessary).
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience of producing animations and video would be advantageous.
