The team

First-class IT systems are absolutely key to the success of any business in today's commercial world and the legal sector is no exception. Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP prides itself on being at the forefront of technological advancements within the legal profession, something we've become well known for. To remain competitive in our markets, and to continue supporting our growth strategies, our team of dedicated IT professionals have a key role to play, ensuring the integrity of the IT infrastructure, development of new and existing systems and excellent support to all of our employees, and clients.

The role

Reporting directly to the Head of IT Applications & Development, this is a senior position that will act as the subject matter expert for SharePoint Online (SPOL) and PowerApps solutions technologies.

The purpose of this role is to lead the design, provisioning, and ongoing management of the firm's established SharePoint Online (SPOL) platform, ensuring it continues to deliver a secure, scalable, and well-governed collaboration environment. In addition, the role will take ownership of shaping and architecting the firm's emerging PowerApps capability, which is in the early stages of development, to ensure a robust and sustainable application framework aligned with best practices.

The successful candidate will architect, implement, and support intranet and collaboration solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, driving integration across related services and maintaining strong governance and security standards. This position requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party suppliers to deliver user-centric solutions that underpin the firm's cloud-first strategy.

Principal Duties

  • Support and develop existing SharePoint architecture within a cloud-based environment.
  • Design and provision new intranet solutions aligned with organisational needs and best practices.
  • Support data integrations between the M365 ecosystem and the Azure data lakehouse.
  • Ensure seamless integration with Microsoft 365 services and related applications.
  • Support and develop governance frameworks, compliance standards, and guardrails for SharePoint Online and Power Apps – helping to establish self-service models (Power Apps).
  • Implement security best practices for data protection and user access.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing SharePoint sites.
  • Develop, enhance and support solutions using Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) and SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
  • Support architecture and integration across SharePoint Online, Teams, Copilot, and Power Apps.
  • Drive adoption and optimisation of M365 tools to enhance collaboration and productivity.
  • Create frameworks that enable the development of internal skills and experience, supporting the growth of low-code capabilities within the existing teams.
  • Collaborate with business units to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for SharePoint and related technologies.
  • To support Business As Usual requests and third line support of M365 systems and processes.
  • To respond to and resolve third level support calls escalated by the Service Desk and other Business support areas.
  • To follow the teams change management procedures (including work breakdown), ensure alignment with external audit standards (ISO:27001) and maintain system and process documentation on the IT Wiki.
  • Assist Business Analysts/ Project Managers in the analysis of requirements and give guidance on technical feasibility

What we are looking for?

We're open to different industry backgrounds, so you do not necessarily need to have worked within the legal sector.  What's most important is your expert knowledge, approach, attitude and ability to communicate your ideas and contribute to improving the future direction of our infrastructure journey.

We're looking for someone with strong experience across SharePoint Online and on‑premises architecture, alongside a solid understanding of the wider Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Teams and the Power Platform.

The ideal candidate will be confident applying governance, compliance, and security best practices, and skilled in developing solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, and SPFx. A working knowledge of Azure services—particularly how they integrate with SharePoint Online—is essential, as is hands‑on experience with third‑party tools used for migration and ongoing management. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices will help you thrive in our fast‑moving, collaborative environment.

To be considered you must meet the minimum requirements and ideally have a mix of the following certifications of:

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Teams, Copilot, Power Platform and Dataverse.
  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900)
  • Microsoft 365 Teamwork Administrator Associate (MS-700)
  • Microsoft 365 Developer Associate (MS-600)
  • Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900)
  • Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL-600)
  • Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert (MS-100 / MS-101)

In addition to your technical skills, we are looking for a candidate who has the right attitude, mindset and is driven, hungry to learn and able to excel in their area of expertise and is eager to contribute with a desire to be successful.
